What is Grace Kids?
Grace Covenant Church is happy to be able to offer childcare for youngsters under 3 years old during our 5pm Lord’s Day Gathering. We desire to develop within our membership and within the kids under our care a love for the Church. One way in which we hope to communicate this is by keeping kids with us for a portion of the service even from very young. We want these babies to hear the Call to Worship being read and their parents, along with the whole church body, respond in song. The babies are welcome to stay with us for the duration of the service, but we also want parents of young ones to be able to have the opportunity to focus on the sermon with the peace of mind that they are being cared for in a separate space.
How does Grace Kids work?
If you do choose to drop your kids off for childcare during the service, you can take them back during the Pastoral Prayer, where there will be a volunteer waiting at the Grace Kids check-in desk to print off a security tag for you and your child (You will be asked to provide that security tag upon pick-up). Any notes you want to leave with the childcare team can be written on the Parent Communication sheet and/or classroom whiteboard.
**Every time there is a 5th Sunday in a month, you will find all of our families and volunteers together in worship because on those nights we don’t offer childcare.
How are classes managed?
Grace Kids is managed by multiple volunteers at all times. These volunteers are members of Grace Covenant and have all passed a background check; they’ll be wearing a Grace Kids lanyard during the service to make sure parents can easily identify them. When you arrive, you have the opportunity to fill out a Parent Communication Sheet to help our volunteers know how best to care for your little ones. We encourage all visitors to fill out this information sheet and current members to update their information as changes occur.
What if my child needs a diaper change?
When you check in your child, you can tell the volunteer if you would rather change your child’s diaper or if it is ok for one of our female volunteers to change the diaper. Female volunteers are the only ones allowed to perform diaper changes. If you would prefer to change the diaper yourself, then one of our volunteers will get in touch with you when the need arises. There are multiple changing table options in the Grace Kids area as well as a changing table in the bathroom.
What if I need to nurse my child?
We have a private room available for nursing mothers. A volunteer can show you the room when you arrive at the kids area.
What if something happens to my child or there is an emergency?
In the event that something happens and you need to be contacted about your child, one of our volunteers will text or call you to ask you to come to the back. One of our volunteers will brief you on the situation at hand.
